Woolen Penny Stocking ~ Red Cardinal

Using a simple stocking design by Needl'l Love,
I have appliqued wool shapes of a cardinal
(inspired by Thimbleberries),
and red/gold penny flowers & green leaves to a soft black
wool background using a buttonhole
stitch with cotton floss.

The design is attached to a cream quilted fabric,
lined in red cotton, and a red grosgrain loop
sewn to corner for hanging.

On each flower, I have sewn on various white
vintage buttons to make the flowers pop.

Woolen Penny Stocking ~ Partridge

Using a simple stocking design by Needl'l Love,
I have appliqued wool shapes of a partridge,
pears, and penny circles to a soft black
wool background using a buttonhole
stitch with cotton floss.

The design is attached to a mustard gold homespun,
lined in a cream duck cloth, and a black grosgrain loop
sewn to corner for hanging.

The cuff of the stocking includes a pear
and black ric rac trim.
